About The Event
Originally from Normal, Illinois, Carrie Etter has lived in England since 2001 and has published five collections of poetry, most recently Grief’s Alphabet (UK: Seren Books, April 2024). The Guardian called Grief’s Alphabet “[a]n impassioned reckoning with the aftermath of Etter’s adoptive parents’ deaths,” and the London Review Bookshop named it one of its Poetry Books of the Year for 2024. Individual poems have appeared in Boston Review, The New Republic, The New Statesman, The Penguin Book of the Prose Poem, and The Times Literary Supplement. She also writes fiction, essays, and reviews, and is a member of the Creative Writing faculty at the University of Bristol.
Christy Prahl is an Illinois Arts Council grant recipient and the author of the poetry collection We Are Reckless (Cornerstone Press, 2023) and two forthcoming chapbooks, With Her Hair on Fire (Roadside Press, fall 2025) and Catalog of Labors (Unsolicited Press, fall 2026).
